On Nov 7th we (Relentless Game Recovery) tracked this gut shot buck only 250 yards, but had a lot of trouble. About 100 yards in, Ransom began shaking and crying and did not want to advance the track. He finally worked through it, and when we eventually came to the area where the buck was in he would not go any farther. His teeth were clacking, he was crying, shaking and absolutely terrified of something. So I began to look around and finally found it, buried under a big pile of leaves with only the antlers sticking out. There were rips in the animal, big patches of hair that had been licked off and its stomach had been ripped open with the liver removed, all of which is very typical behavior of a mountain lion. Ransom has been around bobcats before and they don't phase him but he did not want any part of this. The whole thing was very erie. Pretty cool one for the books though.
